The Conquistador squatted down on his haunches so the eye slits of his helmet were level with Melka's eyes.

"This simple Barclayan thinks Cait and this lady are one and the same maybe. Ach, but I have no proofs of this of course. As for noble knights, I find that belief charming. Try explaining that to your friend should you ever see her again should she escape the Eventide mercies. Figure your self lucky girlie. These men," He waved at the radiants around her, "Are somewhat of best and safest captors for you. You no find yourself on an altar with a knife in yous chest like the Eventide or some other order, or tied to stake and set afire by crazy men yes? Or captured by those nasty norther men named for some big lizard. They seem most impolite to ladies yes? I know that type well."

At that the Barclayan seemed like he was beginning to lose intrest in pestering her. The radiant knight who had been talking spoke up again.

"Any other questions? If not, you're free to warm up by the fire and have some food. Or not. We don't really care much either way."

Mattus came rushing from the meeting grounds. He made a short sign to his men and they quickly got up and gathered their stuff. He saw Moreks men and the Conquistadores near the church with two other persons in black. One was the Captive but he didn't knew the other ones. He hastily scribbled something on a sheet of paper and walked over to a Plaguewarden.

"Give that to Morek. It is strictly confidential."

The man was confused at first but quickly gathered his thoughts and just nodded before walking slowly towards the meeting. Mattus walked to his men and together they made their way deeper into the City.

Pascal accepted request to sit by the fire with a nod, yet mostly kept to himself, in the morning he attempted to enter the church.

It had been some time before he had been able to gather every member of his cohort together, but the feeling of marching through the streets, where you could literally smell the confusion and panic, was thrilling.

It took them very little to reach the church. "Cohort, secure the perimeter! I want ten inside the church, five outside. Centurions Cassiopeia and Fraelyn, with me - Scipio and Triarius, scout our surroundings."

Moments later a retainer threw open the church doors and rushed inside in formation with the nine others, Marcus and Cassiopeia rushing in on horseback right after them. Scipio and Triarius rode a quick roundabout of the church, securing it and then returning to the doors, while the five retainers outside positioned themselves around the entrance.

Back inside, Marcus' first words from horseback were:

"We're here to secure the church and assure that nobody in here will be harmed."

He nodded to himself.

"It's gotten bad outside. I encourage you to not to even try go in there - it might prove fatal. Cassiopeia," he said, turning to the young Centurion, "secure the doors. Make sure they can be barred within seconds."

Then, turning one last time to the folk within the church, he said:

"The Shadow Legion protects you, for now. So I ask only one question from you. When was the man known as Greysword last in this church? He is a traitor and a murdered. We were looking for him."

The Church had been barred from the inside once the Bishop had entered after the meeting, easily preventing the Legionnaires from ever entering. Not to mention the Dawn Knights and Wyverns now inside, the men of Sir Vinson.

Fortunately for the Centurion, a Vanskerry approached the Church grounds before much of a wait.

"I got ah message for the Sennuron. Seleush-ha says tah go tah tha Duke's Wharf an' suppor' tha rebels."

The man had barely gotten the words out of his mouth before he turned and ran off once again.

De'Veer arrives at the church of Astraea and looks up Adalhard road to the main gate, trying to determine his sorroundings, and the best he could from ground height, the extent of the fire.

Sir Lucius hadn't expected the sudden attack from Barbarossa, but considering that they were still in hostile territory, his sword and shield were still drawn. Quickly, the Dawnite brought his shield up to parry the Butcher's strike and then, if given the opportunity, immediately attempted to land a strike of his own across the man's exposed torso. No matter the outcome, however, the other Knights with Lucius were already springing into action; striking the Order of the Dawn was a certain death sentence.

Although further away, the Wyverns who witnessed Barbarossa attacking Lucius broke into a full run, armed with their two-handed axes. They were ready to strike down what remained of the Captain's men.

Sir Lucius felt the force of Barbarossa's strike, even with his shield displacing some of it. The giant of a man clearly was serious about killing the Dawn Knight. Unfortunately for him, a Knight is a much more focused fighter than a butcher, regardless of size. The self-made Captain stared into the eyes of the Astraean for a long moment, until finally Sir Lucius withdrew his sword from the butcher's chest.

The surviving members of the rebel militia that Barbarossa led met with similar fates. None were prepared for more fighting, and none were trained as the Dawn Knights had been. Two took swords in the back, never having raised their own weapons. Of those that were far enough away from the knights to react, only a few managed to parry once or twice before being overwhelmed by the force of the Dawn Knights.

As the last throat was cut of a kneeling rebel, Sir Lucius was free to continue his journey to the Astraean Church. The boldness of the upstart Barbarossa was finally put to an end.

Sir Lucius frowned. He had hoped that Barbarossa would understand why it was necessary to burn the city and prevent further injustice. It was clear that the Captain wasn't a devout follower of Astraea or he would never have attacked the Dawn Knights. Despite this realization, Lucius knelt beside the Butcher and delivered a blessing; the other Knights took a moment to give a blessing to Barbarossa's men as well.

"We must leave them," Lucius said as he stood. "Our priority is to ensure the Bishop's safety." He quickly gestured for his men to follow and the reunited Dawnites made straight for the Church, no longer concerned with spreading the fire.

As they approached the main entrance, several of the Knights and Wyverns independently assumed defensive positions outside the Church. Unless he was intercepted, Sir Lucius intended to enter and immediately seek the Bishop and Sir Vinson.

The Bishop's guards parted for Sir Lucius, and bowed their heads briefly before the superior knight. The church doors were opened for the blooded party as well, the sound of deep 'clunk' indicated that the doors had been barred. Inside, the Bishop appeared somewhat calm. His hands fidgeted however, his right playing with the ring on his left.

"Sir Lucius! What is happening? The city is on fire. FIRE!" The Bishop took a single step towards the knight, but recalled his dignity and remained in place after, so that the knight had to walk towards him.

Sir Lucius approached the Bishop, briefly bowing his head to him. "Your Grace, we must evacuate the city at once. The path to the North Gate is clear of fire, but I fear it may not be for long. I cannot guarantee your safely within the city."

The Bishop stared at Sir Lucius for a long moment. Several of the knights and Wyverns shuffled uneasily, yet none disturbed the silence with their voices.

Whatever hysteria might have possessed the Bishop initially, he seemed to have recovered from it by the mere suggestion of abandoning the city.

"Abandon Windholm, you say? To leave the frightened people to their fate, against whatever injustices they may face? What do you think our Venerable Judicator would say if we arrived in Valonbray with such a tale on our lips?"

The Bishop's tone was gentle, rather than pointed or accusatory. He seemed almost deliberative, like an old monk rather than a powerful bishop.

The Knight nodded as the Bishop replied. He could certainly understand those concerns, even if he felt it was foolish given the circumstances.

"I'm not asking you to flee the city and never return, Your Grace," Lucius said. "I'm merely suggesting you leave until the immediate danger has abated. Your death would do nothing to protect the people of Windholm when they most need it."

[Lucius uses his Silver Tongued trait once again.]

Relief swept over the Bishop visibly. His charade may have been exceptional, but it was precisely that.

"Yes... very well, Sir Lucius. We flee the city until the blaze is contained, and the bloodbath the Duchess will unleash has passed."
